Hi! My name is Kemi Rooney, I’m 16 and from Newcastle! I play guitar and piano and like listening to music! I like laughing, going out, seeing my friends, art, camping, dancing, reading, games, swimming, etc.
I have grown up with the idea that there is a responsibility to care for the environment – though I hadn’t fully known why, or done much about it. I now do simple effective things!
I’ve become more interested in climate change, because recently it has been popping up in the newspapers and on the telly and surprisingly in a lot of my exam papers that I had for GCSE. The fact that the examiners were making references to climate change and global warming made me realise that climate change is actually happening and it is and will continue to affect our daily lives!
I think that young people are key to doing something about climate change because, cliché time; we are the future! And we have the energy to do so much about it too.
Through the C-Change project I think young people have a brilliant opportunity to learn new things about something that is going to affect each of us, and see how tackling this challenge can be fun too!
