C-Change is a project being run by young people from the Woodcraft Folk, a youth organisation in the UK. Read all about it...
C-Change is running events all through 2007 – organised by young people for young people.
Several youth groups have been in touch to tell C-Change about climate projects they are planning. Do let us know about any activities you are thinking of running and we can include a mention on our website so that other groups might be inspired to do something similar. Don’t forget: C-Change is about changing attitudes – not only among our own members who may well already know quite a lot about climate change but within the wider community.
C-Change want lots of groups to get involved by running their own, local climate change projects. The first step for many will be to send leaders and young people to one of the project’s training days.
As the world begins to wake up to urgent need to take action on climate change, a group of Woodcraft Folk members are forging ahead with a project aiming to change young people’s attitudes throughout the length and breadth of England.
Young people aged 18-24 are generally are less likely to be aware of climate change, less likely to believe that they are affected by it, and less likely to express concern about the impacts of it than other sections of the population according to Government research. Youth in the under-18 age group also show similar attitudes towards the issue, and these worrying facts have sparked a new initiative from the Woodcraft Folk.
